WebContainers technology runs a full Node.js environment inside your browser tab: no Docker, no `npm install` waiting, no "it works on my machine" problems. You type a prompt, and within seconds a full-stack app is running at a shareable URL. The open-source engine means you can self-host or inspect exactly how the magic works, which is rare in this space and builds trust with developers who are understandably skeptical of black-box AI tools.

Framework support is genuinely broad: React, Next.js, Vue, Svelte, Angular, Astro, and Remix all work out of the box. This makes Bolt more of a developer's playground than a polished product builder: you'll get further faster than with Lovable on technical prototypes, but the UI output won't look as consumer-ready without additional polish. The backend is limited to Node.js/Express, so if your stack is Python or Go, you're building the frontend here and the backend elsewhere. No mobile app support either: this is web-only.
