What is Crew?
Crew is a different kind of AI coding tool. Instead of a single agent in a terminal, it gives you a multiplayer workspace where you, a collaborator, and your agents work on the same folder. The agents keep shared memory, can split work into helper threads, and report progress on a ticket board. There are no accounts and no server; everything runs locally except what you choose to share.
The practical upside is the shared memory. Agents in Crew remember context across sessions, which is the thing most coding agents get wrong. The practical downside is that it is an early open-source desktop app. You need to be comfortable connecting your own CLI-based model tools, and you should expect the product to change quickly.
Crew is not a Claude Code replacement for solo work. It is a bet on multi-agent collaboration, and it delivers that specific experience better than anything else we have tested so far.
